Increase in hate speech against Muslims in India
A Washington-based research group called “India Hotlab” says that hate speech against Muslims in India increased by 62 percent in the second half of 2023 compared to the first six months of the year.
This group wrote in a report that 668 cases of hate speech against Muslims have occurred in India.
According to this report, 239 of the incidents included direct invitations to violence against Muslims.
According to the report, 75% of these cases occurred in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh under the leadership of the Nationalist Party of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Based on the findings of this research, 11% of hate speech has been expressed by government officials in these states.
