Pakistan’s claim about the presence of TTP in Afghanistan
Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan affairs, claimed that five to six thousand members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are present in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
Durrani made these statements in a meeting in Pakistan and added that Islamabad has asked the Taliban several times in the past to disarm the TTP and surrender the leaders of this group to the Pakistani government.
He also accused India of supporting the TTP and said that the country pays the group through its Afghan partners.
Meanwhile, some Pakistani officials and analysts have called Islamabad’s policy towards the Taliban incomplete and the cause of the challenges in the country, including the unstable economy and the rise of extremism.
The Taliban had previously rejected Islamabad’s claim about the presence of TTP fighters in Afghanistan.
