Emphasizing the alliance against gender apartheid to recognize gender apartheid in Afghanistan and Iran
Etihad Against Gender Apartheid” campaign has emphasized strengthening the voice of Iranian and Afghan women in the world by publishing a statement.
In this statement, the campaign called for the classification of the Taliban and the Islamic Republic as “gender apartheid” systems.
This movement started after the speech of Masih Alinejad, the opposition activist of the Islamic Republic, in Munich, Germany, and some Afghan women activists have also participated in this movement. Earlier, in a message on the occasion of Nowruz, Alinejad called the new solar year “the year of the unity of the citizens of Iran and Afghanistan against gender apartheid”.
This women’s rights activist seeks to introduce the government of Iran and the Taliban as gender apartheid systems by launching the “Union against Gender Apartheid” campaign.
In the press release of this campaign, the imposition of gender apartheid against Iranian women in the last 44 years and the situation of gender apartheid in Afghanistan after the occupation of the Taliban have also been highlighted.
By collecting the narratives of Iranian and Afghan women and joining the global campaign “Union against Gender Apartheid”, this campaign aims to provide the ground for the introduction of Iran and the Taliban as gender apartheid systems.
After taking over Afghanistan, the Taliban has deprived women of education, work and political and civil rights. Human rights activists claim that the Taliban has established “gender apartheid” by excluding women from society.
Human rights activists have condemned the systematic and deliberate violation of women’s fundamental rights by the Taliban as an example of gender apartheid and have asked the judicial authorities of countries to recognize this phenomenon.
