Ban on British arms sales to Israel

ممنوعیت فروش تسلیحات بریتانیا به اسرائیل

Pressures from the British Parliament to ban the sale of arms to Israel have increased sharply due to the country’s opposition to the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution.

More than 130 members of the British Parliament, in a letter to the foreign minister of the country, David Cameron, asked to stop arms exports to Israel.

The letter, co-ordinated by Labor MP Zara Sultane, claims that UK arms sales to Israel are inappropriate and that the country’s weapons have been used in attacks on Gaza.

This letter was signed by the members of parliament after the UN Security Council resolution was approved, while the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected the said resolution and the attacks on Gaza continue.

The resolution, passed by the US with 14 votes in favor and one abstention, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional release of hostages held by Hamas and other militant groups in the region.
