The Japanese government’s decision to invite skilled foreign workers
The Japanese government has decided to add four new sectors to its Special Skilled Workers Program to attract foreign workers with specialized skills in fields that require labor.
The decision comes under a program that allows non-Japanese workers with specialized skills to stay.
This program currently includes 12 sectors including nursing care, construction and agriculture. The four new areas include land transportation, railways, forestry and woodworking.
Passenger bus drivers, taxi drivers can also apply for this program now.
It is said that for these jobs, it is necessary to have a high level of Japanese language skills.
The goal of the Japanese government is to accept 820,000 foreign workers in 16 different sectors within five years, and the start of this program will be in April of the next fiscal year.
