Amnesty International: Pakistan’s plan to deport migrants violates international human rights laws

عفو بین‌الملل: طرح پاکستان برای اخراج مهاجران قوانین جهانی حقوق بشر را نقض می‌کند

Amnesty International has said in its new report that Pakistan should stop ignoring international calls to “stop the illegal deportation of Afghan migrants”.

The report of this organization states: “The ruthless indifference of the Pakistani authorities to the persecution, serious violation of human rights and possible humanitarian disaster if these migrants are deported to Afghanistan under the Taliban administration is heartbreaking.

“Amnesty International has also said that Pakistan’s “plan to return undocumented foreigners” “violates” international human rights law and the rights of refugees and puts the lives of all Afghan refugees at risk.

Meanwhile, the government of Pakistan announced earlier that after the end of Ramadan, it will speed up the deportation of undocumented Afghan immigrants, and based on this report, this process will also include holders of the “Afghan Citizenship Card (ACC)”.Amnesty International has said that if this plan is implemented, the lives of more than 800,000 Afghan refugees across Pakistan will be at risk and will trigger another wave of persecution and detention.

The report states: “Pakistan’s plan to return illegal aliens violates refugee rights and international human rights; especially the principle of non-refoulement and the lives of all Afghan refugees; It especially endangers women, girls, journalists and human rights defenders.

“Amnesty International says that this decision by the Pakistani government lacks transparency and “arbitrarily” revokes the validity of a document (ACC card) issued by the country’s own government.

The organization has called on the government of Pakistan to immediately reverse this decision, enact human rights-compliant legislation to protect the rights of refugees in the country, and accede to the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and its Protocols.

This is despite the fact that many citizens of the country have gone to Pakistan for fear of persecution after the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021 so that they could reach their destination countries; But in some cases, they have been subjected to waves of arbitrary arrests, arrests and threats of deportation from this country.
