The center, a supporter of media and journalists, announced the winners of the “Reporter of the Year” award on Friday, the 17th of Hamal, in a program in Brussels, Belgium.

Ahmad Qureshi, the executive director of this center, stated that more than 40 national and local media participated in this competition.

According to Mr. Qureshi, the jury reviewed the reports submitted by the participants.

He added that among the nominated works, Amin Kaveh’s report, a reporter for 8 Sobh Newspaper, on the disputes of Azizi Bank’s CEO with one of his clients, and Taher Ahmadi’s report, a reporter for Roshaneh Media, on the situation of Afghan migrants in Pakistan, won this award.

Other winners of this award include Mitra Majidi’s report, a Tolo News reporter, on child labor, and Nasir Ahmad Salehi’s report, another reporter of this network, on the water scarcity issue in Farah province. Also, the interview by Fareedullah Mohammadi, a presenter at Tolo News, with the Taliban Defense Minister, was among the award winners.

Media and journalists in Afghanistan have continued their activities in the past three years despite facing restrictive policies and severe censorship imposed by the Taliban government.
