International Doctors Examine and Treat Hundreds of Eye Patients in Western Afghanistan
The Afghan Red Crescent Society has announced that doctors from several countries have examined and treated hundreds of eye patients in the western zone of Afghanistan. Maulvi Mohammad Asef Sediqi, the operational head of the organization, informed the media yesterday (June 1) that approximately 2,000 eye patients were examined, and 45 individuals underwent surgical procedures.
Eighteen doctors, who are nationals of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, recently traveled to western Afghanistan. In coordination with the Afghan Red Crescent Society, they are providing treatment to eye patients. Patients from the provinces of Herat, Farah, Nimroz, and Badghis have sought medical services from these doctors.
Officials from the Afghan Red Crescent Society stated that with the financial support of the “King Salman” foundation, they aim to treat 4,000 eye patients and perform surgical operations on 400 individuals.
Eye patients from Afghanistan often travel to neighboring countries for treatment or receive care from a number of charitable organizations within Afghanistan.
