Taliban Claims Expansion of Afghanistan’s Trade Relations with 80 Countries Worldwide

Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s Minister of Industry and Trade, announced that Afghanistan under the group’s control currently has trade relations with 80 countries around the world. Mr. Azizi identified India, China and Pakistan as Afghanistan’s major trading partners and said that trade relations with these countries are expanding.According to the Taliban’s Industry Minister, security, support for traders, and providing opportunities for investment in Afghanistan are the main reasons for the expansion of trade and increase in commercial relations with countries worldwide. This comes as the Taliban’s Ministry of Commerce had announced in early Hamal 1403 (March 2024) that Afghanistan’s exports in 1402 (2023-2024) had decreased by six percent compared to the previous year.
