Deadly Fire at Qayem Hospital in Rasht; 8 People Killed
On Tuesday, June 18, a fire broke out at the private Qayem Hospital in the city of Rasht, Gilan Province, Iran, resulting in the death of 8 people. The incident began around 1:30 AM and has now been fully contained.
At the time of the fire, 142 patients were admitted to the hospital, all of whom were transferred to other medical centers in Gilan. According to the head of Gilan University of Medical Sciences, 97 patients are still hospitalized in other hospitals.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire started in the emergency power supply room located in the lower floors of the hospital. Experts are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident.
Previously, the death toll was reported as 9, but one case was related to Razi Hospital and is not considered among the victims of this incident.
