Taliban Attack in Jowzjan Leaves 6 Dead and Several Injured

In the Darzab district of Jowzjan province, armed Taliban militants launched an attack on local residents, resulting in five people being wounded and one person killed. Bilal Sarwari, an Afghan journalist, reports that the Taliban have occupied the residence of Ismail Turan, the security commander of Darzab district, for three years and established a base there.

Local people have expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of the Taliban, as they have been subjected to harassment and mistreatment by the group. According to local sources, the Taliban have also sexually harassed local girls in this base. Finally, the residents, unable to tolerate the injustices any longer, rose up against the group. The Taliban responded by attacking the protesters, injuring four and killing one person. Among the wounded are Mullah Abdul Rahman, the tribal leader of Darzab, and Mullah Rohul.
