Kamala Harris Selects Tim Walz as Running Mate in Presidential Election

کامالا هریس، تیم والز را به عنوان معاون خود در انتخابات ریاست‌جمهوری برگزید

Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee in the 2024 United States presidential election, has chosen Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, as her running mate. Harris is expected to formally introduce Walz as her vice presidential pick at a rally in Philadelphia.

“Tim is a deeply experienced leader with an extraordinary record of delivering for families in Minnesota,” Ms. Harris said on Tuesday. “I know he will bring that experience to our campaign.”

Tim Walz, 60, is a former member of the United States Army National Guard and a former teacher who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, serving for 12 years, and was elected as the governor of Minnesota in 2018. As governor, he implemented programs such as free school meals, tackling climate change, cutting taxes for the middle class, and expanding paid leave for workers.

The state of Minnesota is one of the key battleground states in the November 5th election, and Tim Walz is widely seen as skilled at connecting with white, rural voters. The Harris campaign hopes that Walz’s experience in the National Guard and his success as a football coach will appeal to rural voters.
