Global Support for Afghan Humanitarian Workers Urged

حمایت جهانی از امدادگران افغان ضروری است

Indrika Ratwatte, Deputy Head of the UN Mission in Afghanistan, emphasized the critical need for full and inclusive participation of women and men in humanitarian efforts. He highlighted that Taliban-imposed restrictions on women’s public roles pose new challenges that must be overcome. Ratwatte warned that failing to support women on the humanitarian front lines equates to failing in delivering aid to the people. He stressed that male and female aid workers are the backbone of humanitarian activities in Afghanistan, and their empowerment is crucial. The UN’s humanitarian office previously labeled Afghanistan as one of the most dangerous countries for aid workers, with over 35,000 NGO staff providing essential services.
