McMaster: Trump Responsible for Disastrous Afghanistan Withdrawal
Herbert Raymond McMaster, former White House National Security Advisor, holds Donald Trump responsible for the “disastrous” withdrawal from Afghanistan.
On Monday, August 27, McMaster told CNN that the former U.S. president bears responsibility for the “chaotic” exit from Afghanistan. He added that Trump decided to maintain forces in Afghanistan in 2017 but later changed his mind and made a deal with the Taliban.
These statements come as Republicans have been criticizing the Biden administration over the past three years for Afghanistan’s fall to the Taliban.
