Taliban Warns Neighbors: We Will Fight Imported Terrorists

Abbas Stanekzai, the Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister, made controversial statements in Kabul. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3rd National and International Imam Abu Hanifa Exhibition, he claimed that terrorist groups in Afghanistan have been eliminated and that the Taliban will not allow such groups to wage proxy wars in the country.

Stanekzai, referring to the arrest of several terrorists, alleged that these groups’ centers are located outside Afghanistan. He specifically pointed to Pakistan’s Balochistan province, stating that arrested ISIS members confessed to being trained there and sent to Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister warned, “Just as we defeated America and NATO, we will fight against imported terrorists who seek to wage proxy wars in Afghanistan.”

In another part of his speech, Stanekzai called the treatment of Afghan refugees by Iran and Pakistan unacceptable and demanded better treatment to facilitate their voluntary return.

These statements come at a time when the previous Afghan government used to accuse Pakistan of using Afghan Taliban against it. Now it appears that the Taliban is also pointing the finger at Pakistan, considering ISIS as a tool used by the country to pressure their government.

This development marks a significant shift in regional dynamics, with the Taliban now positioning itself against alleged external threats, particularly from neighboring countries. The situation highlights the complex relationships between Afghanistan and its neighbors, as well as the ongoing challenges in combating terrorism in the region.
