“Unimaginable” Threats Against Afghan Women Journalists Under Taliban Rule
The Coalition for Women in Journalism reported that in the last 5 years, at least 33 cases of threats against Afghan women journalists, including 7 murders, have been recorded.
The organization expressed concern about the “unimaginable” threats against women reporters under the Taliban’s rule.
Over the past three years, the Taliban has imposed extensive restrictions on media activities, particularly targeting women journalists.
The Taliban’s repressive policies against the media have led to the closure of numerous media outlets and journalists being forced to quit their jobs.
