Afghan Political Leaders Hold Closed-Door Meetings in Istanbul
A significant closed-door meeting of Afghan political figures convened in Istanbul on Thursday, October 31st. The gathering, dubbed “First National Dialogue Process,” was hosted by prominent figures including Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Mustafa Mastur, and Idrees Zaman.
Notable participants included women’s rights activists Shukria Barakzai, Fawzia Koofi, and Shahgul Rezayi, alongside former government officials such as Mustafa Mastur, former Economy Minister, and Ali Ahmad Osmani, former Energy and Water Minister.
The meeting, which began on Thursday in Istanbul, is expected to continue through Friday, focusing on Afghanistan’s current situation and pathways to political stability. This gathering precedes the anticipated fourth round of Doha talks on Afghanistan, to be hosted by the United Nations.
