Afghan Women Activists Urge Trump to End Taliban Engagement Policy
The Freedom Fighters Network of Afghanistan has called on Donald Trump, the President-elect of America, to terminate engagement policies with the Taliban. In a statement released on Sunday, November 10, the network urged Trump to support Afghan women and girls who are in urgent need of assistance.
The women’s movement demanded an end to all negotiations with the Taliban and requested Trump to impose sanctions on Taliban leaders. They emphasized that international aid should reach those in need without Taliban interference.
While Trump never specifically addressed human rights issues in Afghanistan during his campaign, these protesting women are hopeful for his attention to their cause. The Doha Agreement was notably signed between the Taliban and the US during Trump’s previous presidency.
