UN Mission Demands Taliban Stop Public Executions in Afghanistan

یوناما خواستار توقف اعدام‌های عمومی توسط گروه طالبان شد

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has issued an urgent call to halt public executions in the country. The statement, released on Wednesday, November 13, emphasizes that these executions violate Afghanistan’s international human rights obligations.

The call came after Taliban authorities executed a young man in Paktia province, accused of killing a former Taliban fighter. Richard Bennett, UN Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan, has strongly condemned this execution and demanded its immediate cessation.

Over the past three years, the Taliban have carried out six public executions. UNAMA stresses the importance of fair trial rights and proper judicial proceedings, highlighting the need for adherence to international human rights standards.
