Afghan Women’s Documentary ‘Shot at Freedom’s Voice’ Premieres in Amsterdam
In a significant cultural achievement, the compelling documentary “Shot at Freedom’s Voice” has secured a spot at the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). The film, which provides a powerful narrative of Afghan women’s struggles, was showcased among dozens of selected films on Wednesday, November 20.
The documentary is a collaborative effort between Rashmin Joyenda and Nastaran Nasto, members of the Human Rights Activists Union, representing one of the strongest symbols of women’s resistance in Afghanistan. The cinematography was skillfully handled by Afghan documentarian Zainab Entezar.
This remarkable project, created entirely by Afghan women, stands as a testament to their resilience and pursuit of justice against Taliban-imposed gender discrimination. The film’s inclusion in this renowned international festival demonstrates that Afghan women’s voices for justice cannot be silenced.
