A number of Afghan citizens residing in Germany have gone on hunger strike to protest the German government’s acceptance of two Taliban officials.

According to German media reports, Syed Mustafa Hashemi and Nebras al-Haq Aziz have been appointed as secretaries at the consulate in Bonn and the Afghan embassy in Berlin.

The Taliban administration has not yet made any official comment on this matter.

Baktash Siawash, a former member of the Afghan parliament, has warned German citizens about the consequences of accepting these diplomats.

Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, former Foreign Minister, has also strongly criticized Germany’s action, emphasizing that accepting Taliban diplomats means recognizing this group according to international law.

Women’s rights activists have also condemned Germany’s decision.

Tarannum Seyedi, head of the Women’s Political Participation Network, stated: “We Afghan women are victims of the world’s double standards, but we will not remain silent. We will make our voices heard to the world and tell them that dealing with the Taliban means dealing with violence, injustice, and censorship.”
