Local sources have confirmed that Gholam Sakhi Naveed, a former member of Faryab Provincial Council, was arrested by the Taliban on Thursday, October 2nd, in Garzivan district.

The arrest was ordered by the Taliban governor of the province, and Naveed was transferred to an unknown location.

According to reports, the reason for Naveed’s arrest relates to land ownership disputes.

The Taliban group claims that the land in possession of the former council member is government property and must be surrendered.

This is not the first time Naveed has faced such accusations from the Taliban authorities.

Local sources added that Gholam Sakhi Naveed was also arrested last year for the same reason and was released after a week of torture.

This incident occurs amid multiple reports of land seizures and forced displacement of people by the Taliban group across various provinces of the country.
