US President Donald Trump has declared the suspension of asylum requests “without time limit,” following a shooting by an Afghan migrant that killed a National Guard soldier in Washington.

This move sparked broad reactions and new orders to halt the admission of migrants from several countries.

Trump insisted many refugees are “not good for America,” and called for increased “reverse migration,” meaning deportations.

US Homeland Security stated the shooting suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, became radicalized after entering the US.

Reports show Lakanwal faced severe mental and economic challenges, with his family in difficult conditions.

The US government is now reviewing all asylum and green card cases from 19 countries.
