China’s legislature has formally expelled three top military officials, confirming their removal following weeks of speculation due to their absence from public view.

The move is part of President Xi Jinping’s ongoing and sweeping anti-corruption crackdown within the armed forces.

The ousted officials held significant roles in legal affairs, the People’s Armed Police, and military training. While stripped of their parliamentary positions, they currently retain their party memberships.

This action follows the expulsion of other high-ranking officers in October for violating party discipline.

Since taking power in 2012, Xi has reshaped the People’s Liberation Army by disciplining or removing numerous senior commanders.

These latest expulsions underscore the continuing intensity of the graft purges reshaping China’s military leadership.
