Pakistani police reported that a bomb explosion in a busy market in Wana, South Waziristan, killed two police officers and injured 12 others, including several civilians, on Saturday.
Authorities stated that the explosive device was planted near the entrance of a popular supermarket in a highly congested area. Emergency response teams rushed the victims to nearby medical facilities. As of now, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the deadly blast.
This incident occurs amidst a sharp rise in violence across Pakistan. In response to the growing insecurity, Islamabad recently launched a military operation dubbed “Ghazab-lil-Haq” along the border regions, frequently blaming Afghan-based militant groups for the cross-border instability.
