The first nationwide polio vaccination campaign of the current year has officially commenced in Afghanistan. The United Nations Children's Fund eagerly announced that twelve point six million vulnerable children under the age of five are targeted for vaccination in this major health drive.
The Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban government explicitly stated that this crucial three day campaign is heavily supported by international organizations. Alongside the essential polio drops, young children will also properly receive Vitamin A supplements to powerfully boost their immune systems and overall long term health.
Afghanistan recorded exactly twenty five positive polio cases last year. Following the strict ban on house to house campaigns by the Taliban government, the vital vaccination process is now fully limited to local mosques and community health centers.
