The head of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the President of Kazakhstan discussed the security situation in Afghanistan during a meeting in Astana. Their discussions primarily focused on border conditions and implementing targeted programs to strengthen the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border.

Following the return of the Taliban government to power, security threats originating from Afghanistan have become a major concern for Central Asian countries. The CSTO is actively working to organize various regional meetings to find practical solutions for maintaining stability and border security.

Although Taliban government officials have repeatedly stated they will not allow any group to use Afghan soil against neighboring countries, regional nations remain worried. They fear that the unstable political and economic situation will negatively impact the security of their external borders.
