The International Committee of the Red Cross has successfully delivered emergency aid to seventeen thousand families in the Kamdesh and Barg-e-Matal districts of Nuristan province. These families were heavily affected and displaced by recent border clashes between the Taliban government and Pakistani forces.
The vital assistance includes food supplies, health equipment, and other essential items. This humanitarian effort was carried out in close collaboration with the Red Crescent Society and the World Food Programme, ensuring that displaced residents receive urgent support.
The delivery comes after supply routes to these districts were completely blocked for almost two months due to the conflict. A temporary reopening of the roads, negotiated by tribal elders, finally allowed the aid trucks to arrive and avert a potential famine.
