India is reportedly planning to release venomous snakes and crocodiles into border rivers to deter Bangladeshi migrants. This controversial proposal has alarmed human rights and environmental advocates. Indian border security units have been asked to study the feasibility of using these natural predators.

The initiative is designed to prevent illegal entry through vulnerable water channels. Officials admit that executing such a strategy involves massive logistical difficulties. Furthermore, the risk these dangerous reptiles pose to local residents living nearby is a major concern.

While India has fenced most of its long border with Bangladesh, marshy river zones remain porous. Fencing these specific areas is considered practically impossible. The border authorities have not publicly confirmed the immediate implementation of this plan.
