The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that renewed border clashes between the Taliban administration and Pakistani forces are worsening humanitarian needs. These violent exchanges have heavily impacted vulnerable civilian populations living in eastern Afghanistan.
Artillery fire and airstrikes in Kunar province recently left at least seven people dead and injured 79 others, including women and children. The ongoing conflict caused severe damage to critical civilian infrastructure, heavily affecting local medical clinics, water networks, and public schools.
The organization highlighted that violence forced 19 health centers to close, cutting medical access for nearly 78,000 residents. Furthermore, this regional insecurity disrupted education for thousands of students and displaced over 100,000 individuals across the eastern and southeastern provinces.
