The United Nations Development Programme reported that 74 percent of Afghans cannot meet their basic living needs. Severe economic pressures, droughts, and the massive return of migrants have significantly deepened the country's humanitarian crisis.

According to the report, millions of Afghan refugees have returned from neighboring countries without jobs or savings. The organization stated that Afghanistan's fragile economy is completely unable to support this rapid population growth and provide sustainable livelihoods.

Furthermore, current restrictions on women's education and employment have exacerbated the economic downturn. The UN warned that with a drastic reduction in international aid, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan will likely deteriorate further without immediate support.
