Taliban government officials have confirmed the fatal shooting of a former special forces member from the previous Afghan government in Khost province.
The former soldier, identified as Nangiali, was targeted near a local hospital in Khost city. Sources report that he had returned to Afghanistan from the United States just ten days prior to the attack.
The provincial spokesperson for the Taliban government cited personal enmity as the motive behind the murder. However, international organizations have repeatedly expressed deep concern over the targeted killings of former military personnel.
