Unknown gunmen attacked workers at a road construction project near Saranan in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Monday, killing four laborers who had traveled from Punjab for work. Police say the attackers arrived on motorcycles and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
This marks the second similar attack in the Saranan area within three days. On the previous Friday, armed men seized and blew up a police checkpoint, taking officers hostage, though no casualties were reported in that incident.
According to the Pakistan Institute of Conflict and Security Studies, the total death toll in Balochistan surged from 109 in May to 372 in June — a staggering 241 percent increase, highlighting a dramatic deterioration in the province's security situation.
