Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa held a phone call to discuss the current state of Russian military bases in Syria and the future of bilateral relations.
The Kremlin announced that both sides reviewed the importance of a signed memorandum of understanding regarding the restructuring of the Hmeimim airbase and Russia's naval support facility in Tartus — Russia's only naval support base outside the former Soviet sphere.
Putin reaffirmed Moscow's support for Syria's territorial integrity and post-conflict reconstruction. Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing dialogue at various levels to establish a new legal and operational framework suited to Syria's changed political landscape.
