A sudden flash flood in Nepal's Rasuwa district has killed 475 people as of Friday morning, August 28. The disaster originated from mountainous areas bordering Tibet and has caused widespread destruction to infrastructure.

A 42-kilometer highway connecting Betrawati to the Rasuwagadhi border post was completely destroyed. Dozens of people, including foreign tourists, remain missing. Army and police forces are struggling to reach remote areas.

In China, rescue operations in Tibet have been suspended due to fears that a landslide-formed lake near the Gyirong border port could burst following heavy rains. Over 550 people are missing on the Tibetan side, including 260 foreigners.
