Taliban intelligence forces raided the office of "Lapis," a media company affiliated with Moby Group, in Kabul's Wazir Akbar Khan area on Wednesday, halting its operations. Computers and data storage devices were seized during the raid.
The Taliban-affiliated media outlet "Hindukush" accused Lapis of publishing "immoral and obscene content" and promoting Western-style media programming. A source indicated that the case will be referred to court after further investigation.
The Afghanistan Journalists Center condemned the closure, calling it a continuation of media suppression. The organization urged the Taliban to reopen the Lapis office and allow its staff to work without fear of arrest.
