Taliban Kabul security spokesman Khalid Zadran announced Monday afternoon that four "armed robbers" were killed in a clash with Taliban forces in the 18th security district. The Taliban claimed the individuals had attempted an armed robbery of a home.
However, local sources tell a different story. A source who wished to remain anonymous said the four young men were regulars at a futsal hall near Kata Balandy Hill, and on the morning of the incident, they had criticized Taliban patrol officers after being searched.
The same source added that when Taliban handed over the bodies to the families, they said: "Teach your sons not to look at us the wrong way." The incident has once again raised serious concerns about Taliban forces' treatment of civilians.
