Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states declared in a joint statement that forming an inclusive government representing all ethnic and political groups in Afghanistan is the only path to lasting peace. The 26th SCO summit was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that a peaceful and secure Eurasia is linked to peace and stability in Afghanistan, adding that India will continue its humanitarian and development assistance to Afghanistan. He also called for the dismantling of all terrorist support networks.

Afghanistan shares nearly 1,600 kilometers of borders with three SCO members: China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Taliban were not invited to the summit, and Afghan representation at SCO meetings has been limited since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
