FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing fresh allegations of financial misconduct after reports revealed he received an undisclosed pay package of £1.3 million, on top of his declared earnings of nearly £4 million.
A report by the itish daily The Telegraph said the additional remuneration was paid by FWC2026 US Inc, a FIFA subsidiary established to oversee the organization of the World Cup in the United States. This payment has raised concerns about a potential violation of FIFA's own regulations.
According to the report, US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings revealed that FWC2026 US Inc paid Infantino $1.76 million (£1.3 million). This payment was not publicly disclosed in FIFA's 2024 annual report, which listed his official earnings at 4.27 million Swiss francs (£3.88 million).
The reported payments have raised serious questions about compliance with FIFA's rules, particularly its statute which explicitly states that "the individual compensation of the FIFA president… must be made public." The lack of disclosure could weaken Infantino's position at the helm of world football's governing body.
Further compounding the issue, the itish daily The Times has also reported that Infantino received millions in other undisclosed payments, which he allegedly used to support a luxury lifestyle in Miami. These claims add to existing concerns about financial transparency within FIFA.
These new accusations come as FIFA is still trying to rebuild its reputation following widespread corruption scandals in previous years. Infantino's leadership and the organization's commitment to financial reform will now face intensified scrutiny.
