Saleh Mohammad Registani, a senior commander of the National Resistance Front (NRF), has released a new photograph of himself in the Hindu Kush mountains following the killing of his nephew by Taliban forces. Mr. Registani's nephew, Mirwais Khan, was recently killed in the Andarab district of Baghlan province.

Abdullah Khenjani, head of the NRF's political office, confirmed to media outlets that the photo was taken in recent days. In the image, Registani is seen in military attire, holding a rifle equipped with a scope amidst the rocks of the Hindu Kush, indicating his continued presence and activity in Afghanistan's mountainous regions.

Registani, a figure close to Ahmad Shah Massoud and a veteran resistance strategist, rejoined the NRF after a hiatus of several years. NRF leader Ahmad Massoud appointed him as the general operational commander of the military staff, leveraging his military experience to ing greater coherence to the front's military activities.

Saleh Mohammad Registani fought alongside Ahmad Shah Massoud against the Taliban in the 1990s and later served as a representative for Panjshir in the Afghan parliament after 2001. He is also the author of several books about Ahmad Shah Massoud, the country's national hero.

Following news of Registani's return to the resistance, the Taliban government launched extensive operations to find him in the northern regions. During these movements, a Taliban helicopter crashed in the area. The Taliban claimed it was due to a technical malfunction, but some sources linked to the resistance front claimed to have shot it down.

Taliban-affiliated media reported the death of Mirwais Khan in Andarab on Sunday, October 17th. A reliable NRF source confirmed that Mirwais Khan, one of the front's commanders, was Saleh Mohammad Registani's nephew. The release of Registani's new photo after this event is being interpreted as a message of continued resistance.
