The Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan has called for enhanced security measures and firmer action against terrorism, extremism, and cybercrime during a law enforcement coordination meeting. Officials stated that despite a statistical decline in terrorist offenses, security threats persist.
According to Tajik media, the Prosecutor General's Office cautioned that lower reported crime figures do not mean risks have disappeared, urging relevant bodies to prioritize prevention.
The meeting highlighted concern over links between certain youths or students and extremist groups, stressing the need for more effective tracking of suspects and addressing the root causes of radicalization.
Law enforcement officials also identified online radicalization, internet financial fraud, and cross-border cybercrime as emerging security challenges, calling for stronger data protection.
Dushanbe has repeatedly expressed concerns regarding potential incursions by armed elements from Afghan territory along their shared mountainous border, which extends over 1,300 kilometers.
Member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are currently implementing programs to supply arms and military equipment to reinforce Tajikistan's border with Afghanistan.
