Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, has stated that employers should have the right to ban niqabs and other face coverings in the workplace.

Speaking to The Telegraph newspaper, she emphasized that she doesn’t allow people who cover their faces into her office and believes others should have similar control, saying: “I don’t speak to people who won’t show their face, and I think others should have that control.”
Badenoch also criticized marriages between cousins as “serious barriers” to social cohesion. These comments came after the controversial return of Zia Yousaf to the UK Reform Party last week, which reignited the debate about banning face coverings in Britain.
While several countries, including France, have banned wearing face coverings in public spaces, UK laws give employers the authority to regulate dress codes. However, employers requesting staff to remove face coverings may face legal challenges due to religious discrimination claims.
