Richard Lindsey, Britain’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, announced at the end of his first trip to Kabul that he had met and spoken with a wide range of Afghan citizens, including Taliban ministers.
In a message on his official X account, he stated that his discussions focused on health issues, the situation of women and girls, and the conditions of Afghans returned from Iran and Pakistan.
Mr. Lindsey emphasized that progress in Afghanistan is only possible through “inclusive dialogue and engagement,” an approach that London has repeatedly presented as a fundamental prerequisite for improving human rights and political stability in Afghanistan.
This position aligns with Britain’s previous policies toward Afghanistan, which have consistently emphasized the necessity of dialogue.
The British Office for Afghan Affairs, in line with Richard Lindsey’s message, also announced that the British government’s concerns about the rights of women and girls, as well as the situation of returning migrants from neighboring countries, were among the main topics of discussion during this visit.
This meeting could represent Britain’s diplomatic efforts to maintain communication channels with the current situation in Afghanistan.
