Based on a recent decree from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, women are no longer allowed to enter ice cream and beverage shops in Kandahar city.

This restriction applies even when women are accompanied by their male guardians (mahrams).

According to this ruling, women are only permitted to consume ice cream while sitting outside the shops along the roadside.

In a video received by Zawia News, a woman accompanied by her mahram and children is prohibited from eating ice cream inside the “safe space” of the shop but is allowed to do so in the “unsafe environment” of the street outside.

This new restriction is part of a series of limitations imposed on Afghan women by the Taliban group.

Since taking power in August 2021, the Taliban have implemented numerous restrictions on women, including banning girls’ education beyond sixth grade and limiting women’s employment in most offices and organizations.
