Archaeologists from ArcheoScan have unearthed a complete human skeleton in central Gdańsk, Poland, located beneath a tombstone depicting a knight from the 13th century.
The discovery was made at the intersection of Sukiennicza and Grodzka streets, at the site of the famous, now non-existent “Miś” ice cream parlor to preliminary estimates from the spokesperson of the Pomeranian Provincial Monument Conservator, the knight stood approximately 180 cm tall, making him “quite a man” for those times (late 13th and early 14th century) The skeleton was found about 30 centimeters under the stones on which the tombstone was placed.
This part of Gdańsk has become even more famous with this discovery, thanks to the work of Sylwia Kurzyńska and Monika Kasprzak, along with the entire ArcheoScan Archaeological-Conservation Laboratory team. Initial analyses suggest that the man
