Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon addressed the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, urging the international community to cooperate in addressing drought in Afghanistan and assisting recent earthquake victims in the country’s eastern regions.

He emphasized that Tajikistan is ready to collaborate in this process.

Speaking at the General Assembly on September 24th, Rahmon said: “We invite the international community to provide humanitarian assistance, especially to areas affected by drought and severe earthquakes.”

He added that Tajikistan has always supported establishing peace, stability, complete security, and social and economic development in neighboring Afghanistan.

In another part of his speech, the Tajik president described terrorism, extremism, arms trafficking, drug smuggling, and other transnational organized crimes as serious threats to global security, emphasizing close cooperation with international institutions to combat these threats.

He also called on the UN’s counter-terrorism office to play a more active role in helping countries fight terrorism.
