The Taliban’s Interior Ministry announced that its forces will stop using Ranger-type vehicles. Abdul Matin Qani, spokesman for the Taliban’s Interior Ministry, stated on Saturday, October 3rd, via a video on social media platform X that this decision was made during a ministry leadership meeting.
Qani explained that Ranger vehicles have problems and should be replaced with vehicles more suitable for Afghanistan’s conditions. He said alternative vehicles will be provided for Taliban forces that are better adapted to Afghanistan’s geography and more effective in providing security and services.
These vehicles were originally procured for police forces during Afghanistan’s previous government and were brought to the country with cooperation from the United States. Citizens have responded widely to this news, with many stating that these vehicles have become worn out and the Taliban can no longer repair them properly.
