The People’s Tribunal for Afghan Women held in Madrid, Spain, condemned the Taliban group for issuing over 100 oppressive decrees against women.

This three-day tribunal featured witnesses from inside and outside Afghanistan, providing testimonies about systematic violence against women.

Witnesses explained that these decrees not only deprived girls of education in secondary schools and universities but also limited women’s freedom, access to healthcare services, and economic independence.

Afghan women have been sidelined from all work sectors since 2021, with their political participation also banned.

The tribunal judges, comprising legal experts from various countries, will publish a preliminary statement about their findings.

This tribunal represents an effort to amplify Afghan women’s voices globally and prevent the normalization of the Taliban group’s oppressive policies.
