The Taliban group publicly executed a man on Thursday, October 15th, accused of killing two people at the sports stadium in Qala-e-Naw, the center of Badghis province.

The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that the executed individual was a resident of Jawand district who had killed two people by gunshot.
The UN Office of Human Rights condemned this public execution, calling it a violation of international law.

Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, urged the Taliban to take concrete steps toward the swift abolition of the death penalty.
This marks the eleventh public execution carried out by the Taliban in the past four years and the second in Badghis province.

The Taliban group has previously executed ten others in the provinces of Farah, Ghazni, Laghman, Jawzjan, Badghis, and Nimroz in front of hundreds of spectators.
