Jasem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the diplomatic efforts by Qatar and Turkey to achieve a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Doha.
He emphasized that the GCC supports all initiatives that help establish peace and promote dialogue in the region and beyond.
Al-Budaiwi described these actions as a positive step toward stabilizing relations and building trust between the two countries, stating they could lead to a more stable and prosperous future for the people.
According to the agreement, both sides committed to a complete ceasefire and agreed not to support groups opposing the Pakistani government.
The second round of ceasefire negotiations between the Taliban and Pakistan is scheduled to be held in Istanbul, hosted by Turkey.
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that the next meeting will focus on implementation mechanisms and ensuring continuity of the agreement between both parties.
